Lunch Time Rides

Tues march 9   6 miles  Avg Speed 14.1 MPH First outdoor ride of the year and Felt Like It!

Weds Mar 10    3.7 miles Hill repeats

Thurs Mar 11    7.2 miles  same out and back as tues except I remembered the pump. Tire went from 30 PSI to 100 PSI

Avg speed 15.1 kept HR between 142 and 153 BPM Max HR 165 briefly.

Friday Mar 12   6 mi Avg speed 14.9 kept HR between 142 and 153 BPM. Terrific wind. 22:15 minutes to complete.

The Aussie’s(Because I’m sooooo Continental) have what they call a 30/30. 30 Kilometres (I’ll use the Australian spelling)

At 30 KPH. It has to be an out and back route to eliminate wind or elevation advantages. This equates to 18.75 miles at 18.75 MPH. So my shortened ride would be 6.25 miles at 18.75 MPH or 20 minutes.

Interview

Phil Leggett- Always good to get the first stage out of the way in a Grand Tour. How did it go?

DC- Well Phil, It’s pretty clear I’m not the favourite in this race. We have a saying back in America, I don’t know how well it will translate but, “The race can’t be won in the first stage, but you can certainly lose it”.

Phil- No, I’m sure I never heard that before.....Did the gusty winds give you any problems?

DC= Jonathon tried to talk me out of the solid rear wheel, I should have listened damn near blew me into the water. Fortunately, I careened off those two kids sucking face on the  park bench and I just kept pedaling.
